An Overview of
The Little Glass Slipper
The Little Glass Slipper is a story written by Charles Perrault about a girl whose mother has recently died so she is forced to live with her cruel step family. They treat Cinderella like a servant rather then a member of their family.
One day the Prince held a ball at his kingdom as he was looking for a wife. Cinderella and her step family were invited yet her stepmother did not allow her to go as she was frightened that the Prince would choose Cinderella instead of her own children. Cinderella was very upset by this but still helped her family to get ready for the ball and didn't make a fuss.
After her family left Cinderella broke down in tears. Her fairy godmother, who had seen her crying, asked her what was the matter. Cinderella replied, "I wish that I could got to the ball".
"Well said her godmother, "Be but a good girl and you shall go to the ball!
Her godmother then produced a coach, horses, coachmen, a beautiful dress and unique glass slippers to help Cinderella to get to the ball. As Cinderella thanked her godmother for everything she warned her that the magic would only last until midnight. Cinderella promised she would be back before then and was off.
When she walked into the ball room all eyes were on her. As the Prince came over he invited her to dance and they spent the whole night together. When the clock struk quater to twelve Cinderella dashed of leaving one of her shoes behind. The Prince announced he would marry whoever could fit their foot in the shoe.
When he got to Cinderella's house her step sisters tried on the shoe but their feet were too big. When Cinderella tried it on it fit perfectly so the Prince proposed to her. The sisters then apologised for their ill treatment towards her. Cinderella accepted it and found them both suitors in the royal court. They all lived happily ever after.
